Now it is time to build your knowledge and experience gained during training by increasing your Pilot In Command hours.

 

You are now increasing your position on the learning curve, enabling you to go on advanced courses, such as conversion training.

 

However, you may be happy gaining more experience in the Robinson R22. Use our landing sites directory, visit hotels, golf courses and race tracks - the world is your oyster! You have earned the right to total freedom.

 

Type Conversion

Having mastered the R22 helicopter, spread your wings and convert to one of our larger helicopters. The R44, Jet Ranger and the Eurocopter Squirrel are unique and exciting machines, all of them different from one another, yet they all have the added bonus of allowing you to impress your family and friends with your newly acquired skills by taking passengers along in comfort and style.

 

Each conversion requires a minimum of five hours training with your personal flight instructor and a flight test.

 

Night Conversion

Helicentre also offers a night rating course which will allow you to fly at night and thus not restrict your helicopter flying in any way, shape or form. You will not have to worry about cutting a meeting short, or rushing dinner with friends. Relax and leave when you are ready.

 

Pilots must have a minimum of 100 hours of flight times as Pilots of helicopters 'after' the issue of the PPL.

 

Mountain Flying Course

Our geographical locations bring us into close proximity to mountainous areas. Take a course in mountain flying which will develop skills already acquired., whilst learning new techniques, enabling you to fly with confidence in the conditions of the mountains.

 

The scenery is spectacular and the course can be tailor made to suit individual requirements, from a day to a weekend break.

 

Refresher Courses

Instructors are available seven days a week to assist with any aspect of your flying. If you feel you need a refresher course or would like to talk about a particular element of your flying - book in the diary. Help and advice is always at hand.

There will be many of you who wish to continue your flight training, in order to gain a career in aviation. One option is to become a flying instructor, a fantastic way to get into the professional world of helicopters. The Helicentre operates Civil Aviation Authority and Joint Aviation Regulation Approved courses. The requirement for which is as follows:-

 

  • Obtain 250 hours total time of which 100 hours must be as a pilot in command of a helicopter.
  • Pass the ATPL examinations
  • Hold a class 1 medical
  • Pass a pre-entry flight test
  • Complete a Commercial Fight Course and Instructor Flight Course at the Helicentre
  • Pass a final flight test

    Commercial Courses

    If you do not wish to become an Instructor, why not consider a career as a Commercial Pilot.

     

    There is an increasing need for pilots to carry out a wide variety of work from corporate transport to aerial film and photography, surveillance to fire fighting, search and rescue to straight line fetch and carry and not to mention the glamour of flying high profile people from place to place.
