The Helicentre has been the official Helicopter and Helipad operator for the Open Golf Championship since 1996.

The high-flying Helicentre is aiming to tee up a major new deal after a successful round at this year's Open Golf Championships.

The Helicentre has a team of 50 staff on hand from 6am until 10pm, to look after top players, VIPs and guests flying into and out of the championships.

Managing director Andrea Brown explained that handling over 200 visiting aircraft meant the Open Golf helipad was one of the busiest of the year in the UK - second only to the British Grand Prix.

"The team works around the clock to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that all guests are well looked after, with flights leaving and arriving promptly and efficiently." said Geoff Hopkins.

The Helicentres helipad is sets up close to the Championship Golf for the whole week of the tournament, handling a huge range of helicopters from a small Robinson R44 up to a giant Sikorsky S61 and a Super Puma, carrying up to 23 passengers.

The company handled flights and arrangements for major companies including Bank of Scotland, Nortel Networks and Compaq as well as visiting celebrities and players.

"The flights are handled as part of the Helicentre's Europe-wide operations.

From major airports to famous hotels, guests had a great opportunity of a bird's eye view of the world's best known golf course and the beautiful surrounding scenery, as well as avoiding the queues of traffic on the ground." added Andrea Brown.

The contract highlighted the company's position as the UK's leading independent helicopter company. With operations throughout the UK covering helicopter and private jet flights across Europe. The Helicentre has successfully positioned itself as a pace-setter for the aviation industry.

As well as the Open Golf Championships, Helicentre undertakes other prestige events such as British Grand Prix, Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Along with charter flights, the company also carries out a wide range of industrial projects, such as Helisurvey®, Helitelly® together with helicopter training and corporate events.

The Helicentre was founded in 1986. Since then the business has grown at a healthy rate with operations throughout the UK.
